Case Study: Templant Selected As Power Supplier For Slam Dunk Festival’s 10th Anniversary

10 years of Slam DunkTemplant selected as power supplier for Hertfordshire music festival

Reliable power is crucial to any music festival, and Templant will once again be powering the party at Slam Dunk Festival’s 10th anniversary.

Templant is delighted to announce that it has once again been selected to provide the power for the hugely popular Slam Dunk music festival in Hertfordshire.

Originally launched in 2006 as a one-off festival on Leeds’ Millennium Square, the annual Slam Dunk Festival is now held over three days across the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend, and tours three separate UK locations – Leeds, Birmingham and Hertfordshire.

The 2016 festival kicks off in Leeds City Centre on Saturday 28 May, followed by Birmingham NEC on Sunday 29 May, before finishing up at the University of Hertfordshire (Hatfield) on Bank Holiday Monday (30 May).

Bigger and better

This year is the festival’s 10th anniversary and organisers are promising that this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever. As always, the festival will boast an eclectic and impressive line-up of pop-punk, ska punk, emo, metal and hardcore punk acts and, this year, in honour of its anniversary, the festival will be welcoming back some Slam Dunk favourites, including Of Mice and Men, Four Year Strong and 2010 headliners New Found Glory. Appearing alongside these Slam Dunk veterans will be over 40 other artists, including Mallory Knox, The King Blues and main stage headliners Panic! At the Disco.

The festival has grown exponentially since its early days, with expected crowds of over 40,000 across the weekend. And with sell-out crowds and over 7 stages of live music to enjoy, any interruption in power is not an option for the organisers. Having proven our ability to rise to the challenges over the past two years, the organisers selected Templant to provide the power for the Hertfordshire leg of the festival for the third year running.

Getting the party started

An event of this size requires a large amount of reliable, temporary power to run effectively. Our generators are perfectly suited to the job and can supply energy across the festival site to hospitality areas, food halls, viewing screens and, most importantly, the numerous music stages which are the main focus of the event.

Time is of the essence with these types of event and using our own transport fleet to deliver the equipment and make the necessary preparation enables us to increase our efficiency and drastically reduce the time needed to get everything installed.

Our reputation and professionalism is also extremely important to us, so our specialist engineers and electricians will be on hand during the build up to the event to oversee the whole electrical installation process, from connecting the cabling and constructing cable ramps, to erecting temporary lighting – all to ensure that the party gets started without a hitch.

And what a party it’s set to be – with over 40 artists playing across 7 stages and a capacity crowd of music-loving partygoers. Of course, events like these are not without their challenges, particularly given their size and the combination of indoor and outdoor venues. However, our team has the experience and expertise to meet these challenges head-on, and we are really excited to, once again, be involved with one of the UK’s fastest growing festivals.
