Following a competitive tender process by a dedicated team solely working on council projects Templant were thrilled to be awarded the temporary power contract for The London Borough of Newham’s events in 2013.
Templant are looking forward to building on their previous experience of working with London Councils together with over twenty years of event expertise to support the three key events held annually within Borough; The Mayor’s Newham Show and Carnival, Under the Stars and Guy Fawkes Night Celebrations.
The Mayor’s Newham Show, held in Central Park, on 13th and 14th July is the official start to a season of unforgettable events with two days of traditional family fun for all. This free event draws 20,000 visitors each day and are treated to live music on the main stage, variety performers in the cabaret tent, strolling street theatre, a lively carnival parade, Council information stalls, children’s play, art and craft activities, a heritage area with displays from local history groups, sports activities and a manmade beach complete with sand, paddling pool and donkeys
In addition to the above entertainment the vibrant multi cultural Newham Carnival starts it’s dramatic procession of 1,500 participants on the Saturday afternoon.
Under the Stars held from 15th August, again in Central Park includes four nights of fantastic free outdoor live music bringing crowds in of up to 10,000 each night. Last year the programme included a Jazz night, an eventing of Asian musia, a Soul II Sould show night and a Last Night of the Proms event with the 65-piece Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra complete with a firework finale. This year’s programme will follow a similar format.
Guy Fawkes Night held in Forest Gate at the beginning of November draws in crowds of 25,000 and is one of London’s biggest free firework events. The 20-minute display set to a musical soundtrack proves hugely popular with local people every year.
Templant are looking forward to cementing their working relationship with the event organisers and everyone at Newham Council.
