The Assignment
Situated in the picturesque UK countryside, this premier golf resort, celebrated for its golf courses and a plethora of guest facilities. In the process of huge investment they faced a crucial operational challenge of upgrading their electrical switchgear, a key component in managing the resort’s extensive power needs
The challenge was to provide uninterrupted power to maintain all amenities including luxurious rooms, a spa, fitness centre, and sports facilities without impacting the serene and indulgent atmosphere of the resort. The priority was to ensure a seamless guest experience amidst these critical electrical upgrades, so the resort required a robust temporary power solution with a leeway of power supply incase of failure within the supply.
The focus was not only on maintaining power during the switchgear upgrade but doing so in a manner that aligned with the resort’s commitment to sustainability and minimal environmental impact. This called for a high-efficiency, low-emission temporary power setup that could seamlessly integrate into the resort’s tranquil setting while supporting its high standards of luxury and guest service.
The Plan
Templant Rental Power was chosen to embark on this significant project at Potters Resorts Five Lakes, delivering a temporary power solution to support the resort during the upgrade of the switchgear units.
Before the install we conducted a comprehensive pre-site assessment where we took tests of the power load required, the location where generators could be placed, how we could run our cabling into the resort, risk assessments and security.
We wrote up our plan of three 500kVA Stage V generators. The resort could run on two 500kVA’s but in the priority of having a backup supply to allow for any failures we installed 3 in parallel, if there were to be any failures two would work together to cover the power load required.
Within our plan we planned cable relocations, weekly load bank tests, diligent refuelling, adblue management, and full remote monitoring, ensuring continual efficiency and safety.
The Result
Our success in this project represents a significant achievement. By meticulously controlling our generators from our control room, we upheld our high standards of reliability, ensuring zero power outages at the resort. This accomplishment underscores our team’s dedication to maintaining uninterrupted power supply, even in situations where outages are a critical concern.
After six weeks, the generators transitioned into a standby role upon completion of the enabling works. In line with the client’s specifications, all generators were commissioned in the chosen colours and with minimal branding, underscoring our commitment to providing bespoke solutions.
