The Plan
At the request of the client Templant liaised with the Biologics Facilities department to design, plan and implement a new Low Voltage Switch board. Due to the nature of the biological research being carried out by the client it was crucial that power to the building was to remain constant. Any loss of power would have led to the client incurring astronomical costs which would obviously be unacceptable. Therefore Templant recognised the need to install a standby generator and temporary distribution panel while Templant’s engineers carried out the new low voltage switch board installation.
Implementation
As soon as Templant arrived onsite their engineers installed a 1600Kva generator outside and connected it in-line with the client’s 2500amp mains distribution panel inside their switch room. They then ran the cables from the required buildings connecting them to the generator and distribution panel. As soon as the generator and distribution panel were tested, work could begin on commissioning the new low voltage switch board which was to be located inside the building. Once the new low voltage switch board was installed it was tested in line with 17th edition IEE wiring regulations and certificates were produced. At all times Templant adhered to the highest levels of site health & safety which was of extreme importance due to the nature of the Client’s business activities.
