Having previously worked with the Biologics Facilities Department of a Global Life Science Company to successfully design, plan and implement a new Low Voltage Switch board, their Senior Electrician contacted Templant for another short term project for the provision of temporary power to bespoke state of the art refrigerated units.
Founded in 1897, with over 40 manufacturing and R&D facilities this Company is one of the world’s leading suppliers to the pharmaceutical, healthcare and life science industries. It is a globe leader in the production and support of active pharmaceutical ingredients, both chemically and biotechnologically creating products to enhance people’s overall quality of life and well-being. Having worked with this Company on previous occasions Templant were only too aware of the critical nature of the temporary power required.
When the Senior Electrician spoke to Templant he informed them that each refrigerated unit required a 32amp 3phase power supply with four fridges in total which, for a period of 8 weeks, could not lose power or this phase of the project would fail preventing the client from meeting crucial deadlines. Not an option!
On the basis of this Templant specified 2 x 100kVA super silent generators connected to a distribution panel and automatic mains failure (AMF) panel via 125amp 3phase leads. With one generator acting as the main power supply and the other acting as standby power any loss of power from the main generator would be immediately detected by the AMF panel which would then instantly start the standby generator, resulting in a reliable and continuous power supply.
In addition to the above the client specifically requested a maximum of a 1000 litre fuel tank due to the site restrictions of only being able to store 1000 litres of fuel at any given time. The fully bunded fuel tank was connected to the main generator and Templant carried out the fuel management every three days. It was also necessary for Templant to put together the necessary H&S statement, risk assessments and method statements for the offloading and careful positing of the generator sets, cabling and panels.
