With just five days notice the Estate Manager of a prestigious residential property in central Kensington was informed by their local power company that they would be without power on Saturday 9th November due to essential network maintenance being carried out. However, due to a large function taking place at the property on that day it was essential for the Estate Manager to find an alternative source of temporary power.
After a quick search on Google the Estate Manager contacted Templant Power Hire who confirmed they could arrive onsite the very next day to advise him on the necessary power and equipment required. Following the site visit Templant put together the necessary H&S statement, risk assessments and method statements to undertake the works. They specified one of their 200kVA super silent generators together with 100 metres of cabling to connect the generator to property’s mains power.
At 08.00hrs on the morning of the 9th November three Templant Engineers arrived in one of their flatbed lorries to connect their generator, which remained on the flatbed, to the mains power located in the basement of the property. The cabling connecting the generator to the mains power was laid out carefully and covered across the footpath to ensure minimal disruption to the public. Once installed test procedures were carried out in line with 17th edition IEE wiring regulations before Templant turned the Estate’s power over to the generator. As a precautionary measure a Templant Engineer remained at the property at the request of the Estate Manager. The remaining Templant Enginers returned at 17.30hrs on the same day to safely remove the cabling and generator following a successful function at the property.
Customer Comments
“We were given 5 days’ notice by our power company of a localised power outage. Having already committed to a large function at our address, this was completely unexpected. From the minute I called Templant they swooped into action. A technician arrived the next day to establish what plant we required and he was smart, professional and reassuringly knowledgeable.
On the day, the team arrived on time and had us hooked up to the generator within the hour. As with all these things, the power was off a lot longer than we were expecting. A technician remained on site all day to ensure any issues were dealt with and the company were able to accommodate all our requirements for the location of the plant. The day went ahead without any issues and only 2 small outages whilst we were connected and disconnected. The team worked hard and were discreet whilst on site. A job well done and we greatly appreciate all your help and support.â€
