Case Study: Templant Helps Power New Hall School’s Summer Fete

We provide power for many businesses and organisations throughout Essex and London, but something that always gives us great pleasure is providing the electricity for summer fetes. Last month we helped New Hall School run yet another hugely successful family fun day and summer fair. We arrived early to set up the generator and then helped stalls and attractions get hooked up.

New Hall run one of the best summer fetes in the county, there really is so much to do for the whole family. Attractions include a jousting show with knights in full plate armour, falconry displays, zorbing, a crazy golf course, dog agility events, classic car displays, football darts, plus bouncy castles and soft play areas.

Most of the energy requirements were for the music and dance tent – we provided all the power needed for the sound and lights so that live music and dance performance could take place throughout the day.

Our services were also needed at the bar – they ran a fully licenced bar serving beers from Essex’s Bishops Nick Brewery. Food stalls served a range of classic meals, including gourmet burgers, fish and chips, wood-fired pizzas, ice creams, waffles and coffee. For those who love buying traditional summer gifts there were a range of great stalls.

Our Tips For Running a Summer Fair

One of the biggest challenges in any event such as this, whether its a school summer fair or a street festival, is providing adequate power to the event without polluting. Traditionally each stand and service provider would bring their own power generators, which would often be old, noisy, inefficient diesel generators that pump out pollution.

Before booking your bouncy castles and ice cream vans, ask what type of generators they use. It is often worth asking if they would be happy to run their services off your own generator. This will allow you to run one larger Templant generator that will be much quieter and far more efficient, and most importantly, far less polluting. This will create a better environment for families to enjoy – nobody likes breathing in diesel fumes while queuing for an ice cream or bouncing on an inflatable castle.

Lighting is not usually a requirement at summer fairs, but if you are planning to have a live music stage you will still want to run some spotlights along with the sound system, so a reliable generator that manages power loads effectively to prevent power cuts is vital to ensure the day goes ahead smoothly, without any performers being left in the dark!

Whatever the size of your event, whether a small primary school fete or a city attraction that will attract tens of thousands of visitors, you can hire a Templant generator to power your event to success.
