How We’re Helping This Great Event Run Smoothly
The International Essex Jamboree is a huge date in the Scouting and Girl Guiding calendar – and this one is set to be the biggest yet.
While it may not attract as much attention, the Essex International Jamboree welcomes Scouts and Guides from all over the world – making it one of the biggest events in Essex. This year, Templant is supplying the power to the event. So before the week commencing the 30th July rolls around, let us tell you a bit about this great get-together – and the part that we are going to play in it.
The History Of The Event
Since 1927, Essex has been where Scouts and Guides come together. The Essex International Jamboree started off as an event just for Scouts and Guides in the UK, but since 1949 young people from over 70 different countries have been welcomed. From Australia to Libya, Jamaica to Scotland, young people from all corners of the world spend a week in the Essex countryside having fun and gaining valuable skills. Rooted in traditional values and helping youngsters to build a brighter future, it’s an event that is as popular with parents as it is their children.
What To Expect This Year
This year, the Jamboree will be returning to Boyton Cross. Located just outside Chelmsford, this 120 acre site is just 40 miles from London. This location makes it really easy for both domestic and international guests to get to the site. As it takes place every four years, it’s highly anticipated and with each successful event that passes, expectations grow for the next one. This year, guests can expect to take part in a huge variety of activities including circus performance workshops, quad biking, abseiling and arts and crafts. In the evenings, the kids can sit around a big communal camp fire with their friends – the perfect way to unwind after a long day.
How We’re Helping
It’s an event that has grown massively over the years, and now the Jamboree welcomes over 10,000 guests. As you can imagine, a lot of work goes into making it as safe and as fun as possible. So how are we helping to make sure this event runs smoothly? Well, we make sure that the Scouts and Guides have all the power that they need. This year, we’ll be supplying 30 generators and 30 lighting towers. Alongside that, we’ll be providing fuel tanks as well as cabling and distribution. It’s a huge outdoor event to take care of, but with all of our expertise, we’re more than ready for the challenge.
Roll on 30th July!
This event needs a lot of power to keep all of the Scouts and Guide fed, washed and well-lit at all times. The Jamboree chiefs and their team’s number one priority is that the children are happy and safe twenty-four hours a day – and we’re really proud to be able to help them achieve that. The Essex International Jamboree puts the county in the limelight, and attracts the attention of people from all over the world. As a local company who are proud of their roots, we’re determined to make this year’s event one that will be remembered for years to come.
